Dior

in Greece

Do you speak Dior in Greek?

We won’t remember this summer only for the 200 years of Independence. The anniversary of 2021. The pandemic and the face mask as a necessary accessory. We will also remember it for the historic return of the Dior house after 60 years in Athens and in Greece with spotlights being almost bigger than the Greek sun for the live broadcast of the Dior Cruise 2022 collection. With torches, a string orchestra, dresses with draping reminiscent of ancient sculptures.

The creative director of the house, Maria Grazia Chiuri, was inspired by the Greek civilization and created a fashion show at Kallimarmaro that will be a reference point for the fashion world across the globe for decades after today. Models were photographed like Greek Goddesses, with Cara Delevigne and Anya Taylor Joy being 2 of them, at Herodion stadium, the Ancient Agora, Temple of Hephaestus, outside the Church of Agioi Apostoloi, the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio, the Temple of Zeus at Ancient Nemea.

Something that Christian Dior would envy if he lived today… We only need to travel back in time in 1951, when the French designer showed his latest collection at Parthenon. The difference with the Resort collection of 2021? The ancient Goddesses were wearing flowy dresses with sneakers. And rainboots. Grecian chic with a twist. Because white will be the top trend for the 2022 vacation. With Grecian sandals? It depends on the destination. The scouting. And the location.
